Looking for the Truth?
It’s a topic that fascinates many, but people don’t like to discuss on a personal level. How can you tell if a spouse is cheating? Are there any concrete signs outside of physically catching them? There are several classic “signs” you can look for, however for concrete proof, you will likely need photographs, voice recordings, or other such irrefutable evidence.
This can be very unstable territory. You may have the instinctive “gut” feeling, but aren’t sure of who to turn to. Relatives may or may not help matters. Friends may or may not be trustworthy. Private investigators can be incredibly expensive and you may not find the quality professional you would like in your area.
This simply means you need to take matters into your own hands. First, do you believe your suspicion is grounded? Have you experienced personal issues recently that might manifest in insecurity? If nothing has changed in your life, it’s time to examine that of your spouse. These symptoms can be common for both men and women. The most important element to maintain is your composure. If your spouse suspects you are on to their activities, they will be extra careful, and it will be twice as difficult to catch them.
The most noticeable symptom will likely be distance. They don’t want to spend time with you or have interest in being intimate. They may seem to struggle for reasons to avoid spending time with you or your family. They may also have a new interest in privacy and won’t talk on the telephone or answer a text message until you are out of visibility.
Have they recently taken a surprising interest in their appearance? Have they recently became secretive? Do they hide credit card statements or pay stubs from you? Do they hide cell phone records or insist that only they answer their phone? Do they get a few too many calls that they attribute to “pranks?”
You may notice unusual computer habits. They may wait to go online when everyone else is in bed or they may fake insomnia as a reason to be on the computer. They may have a “free” email account. Around 30 percent of those frequenting online dating services are already married.
The first step that has been effective for many is a hidden camera. Technology today has created cameras that are perfect for such purposes. Most are small and can fit through pin holes, under doors, and hidden easily. Voice recorders are wonderful and provide a great alternative to catching what your spouse is saying on their private telephone calls.
You can use your internet browser’s “history” to see what sites have been visited or if it appears your spouse is deleting their history. There is software available that will let you track computer usage. No matter what method you use just remain calm.

Kids and Pool Safety
During the warmer months, kids tend to become rowdy. In the chaos that follows it’s easy for parents to overlook details they would otherwise quickly notice. When the time comes there are several steps you can take to ensure your pool is the safest in the neighborhood.
The first rule is to learn CPR. Make this a priority. Nearly every town and city has community organizations or other places that offer CPR training throughout the year. You can start now and be ready for next summer.
Another safety tip that isn’t often mentioned is to completely remove any pool toys after each session at the pool. These can be seen as an invitation by younger neighbors and you may find children have been swimming, unsupervised, in your pool. If there is a visitor or the telephone starts ringing, take them with you. You should never leave any child unsupervised. Flotation devices are no substitute for a responsible adult.
There are also steps you can take to ensure your pool is as safe as possible. If you need to carry drinks or snacks to the poolside, use only plastic or Styrofoam containers. Be sure your pool is free of trash or debris before swimming. It may be tempting to swim before the cover is completely removed; however this is a safety hazard. Never swim when any part of the pool is covered.
Placing a good fence around your pool is a priority when you have one. Be certain all latches and locks are out of reach for small children. There shouldn’t be any tables or chairs near the fence as these can be used to cross over the fence. Likewise you should keep safety equipment around the pool at all times.
If you utilize a diving board, observe proper usage. Divers should always spring from the front of the board and never the side. Those who are diving from the sides of the pool should always do so feet-first.
If you hear anything resembling thunder or if there are reports of thunderstorms in your area, do not go in the pool. You should avoid swimming alone and do not allow others to swim alone.
Even with the proper precautions a pool can be dangerous. By obeying these simple steps you will reduce your chances of a terrible accident. You can have fun and enjoy a refreshing swim with far less worry as long as you respect the risks involved.

Minors and the Internet
Technology has bridged the communication gap for millions of people worldwide. This can be a great bonus for teens. There are situations where a healthy and positive social circle online can be an effective substitute for children who experience issues at school. This situation isn’t often the case. Many times teens may become involved in less-than-healthy relationships online. When parents isolate their child in their room, with a computer, the results can be disastrous or even tragic.
The worst aspect of the situation is many teen’s naiveté. Many minors believe they are meeting other minors when they meet someone online. This seems to affect more females than males. Girls in their teens chat regularly with someone and they honestly believe this signifies trust and honesty. They become closer and believe the other individual, supposedly a minor, is feeling the same emotional ties to them.
How can you prevent such tragedies as rape or even murder with your child? The prevention is likely far more simpler than you may think. You can take many steps to ensure your child does not become a statistic for internet predators.
The best method is to talk with your child. Ask them to simply let you know what they do online and who they associate with. You more-than-likely know who your child associates with outside the computer. You should know who they speak with online. This is not to say you should be introduced or physically meet their friends online. This will just give you a glimpse into their online world.
If at all possible, limit Internet connection in the bedroom. Encourage every member of your family to use the internet in a public room of your home. This will prevent any resentment that may arise if your child feels like you are unfairly targeting them. It may also help adults who may not be so internet savvy.
Teens in particular are incredibly insecure. If you suddenly start showing interest in their online activities, they may become angry or afraid. Even if it has absolutely nothing to do with prying into their lives or invading their privacy, they may believe that is what you are trying.
With consideration and preparation you can sit down with your teen and ensure they are not left feeling “targeted” or “picked on.”

What Self Defense Product is Right for You?
When shopping for self defense products, the most important question is also the simplest, what products are right for you? It is worth a good amount of consideration and self insight. A poorly chosen product can cause more damage than it can prevent.
For example, what good will a stun gun do if you aren’t comfortable with it? An attacker might wrestle it away and use it on you. On the other hand, you may be in a situation where you are phobic of weapons, so a stun gun may be ideal for your steady hand.
Throwing stars have been discussed for decades, but like samurai swords, if you haven’t had the training, they won’t really help you at all. A taser is wonderful for an attacker that is a few yards away, but would you be comfortable with it for a close range attack?
Keychain mace will be wonderful for those who have their keys with them at all times. If your lifestyle, or your work, doesn’t allow a keychain or other personal items, it will likely stay in your vehicle more than actually with you. Would physical training benefit you more so in this situation?
You should know your lifestyle before reaching a final decision. What items do you have with you the most? If you are always connected with work through cellular phones and wireless internet, perhaps you would be best suited with a taser or stun gun that resembles a pager?
Self awareness will do more in the long run to ensure you are protected. Having a honest anticipation of your routine will give you quick ideas of which items are realistic and which are unrealistic. A set of solid steel handcuffs may seem like the ideal way to keep burglars at bay until the authorities arrive. But, you should also anticipate how they will be subdued or disarmed in order to be cuffed. You should also consider as many different situations as possible. You can keep your weapon in the car, but what if someone attacks you before you get to it? What if you can’t get to your car in time? Answering these questions can prevent injury and hardship beforehand.
Choosing the right weapon is only the beginning. You also need to ensure the item is legal in your state. Your local authorities should be able to tell you what products are legal on both a regional and State level.

Strange Self-Defense?
The term “self defense” often brings many images to mind. You may see a martial arts expert or believe there are years of training involved. Some people may instantly think of firearms and ammunition. There is no doubt that any of these items work, but there are also other factors to consider.
How many gun owners have their weapons with them at all times? In reality, few, if any, can say this. The majority of weapons owners have their arms hidden deep in closets or far beneath beds just for familial safety. Many also store their ammunition far from the actual weapons in case any person finds the guns.
The use of tasers and stun guns are common, but like with arms, few people carry them at all times. Sometimes it isn’t convenient, it might pose a safety hazard to non-attackers, or it’s just forgotten altogether. The smaller items can also be lost by falling from pockets, breaking off keychains, or just being misplaced.
At times like this, it is important to take note of common items and their potential as self-defense weapons. An attacker will not wait for you to locate a taser or stun device. There won’t be a second to waste for trying to find something that can be useful. You will need to take action at that very moment. These tips are designed for those situations where you aren’t near adequate defense weapons.
A standard metal key protruding from between your knuckles can help you make a powerful, and painful, punch. A pencil or pen can also make an instant puncture weapon for jabbing. If nothing else, a folded laptop can also make a hard-hitting object. You will run the risk of destroying your computer, but it may offer you some protection and a chance to flee the area. Canned goods can also make your fist an impressive weapon against an attacker.
If someone grabs you from behind on a street, drop. Put all your weight on their arms and drop as quickly as possible. It will be impossible to carry or drag a fellow adult without every person on the street seeing them.
With a little common sense and forethought, you can be ready to defend yourself in any situation. You don’t need years of training or hundreds of dollars in weapons to protect yourself.

How Can You Avoid Attacks?
There is one quality you can exhibit that will greatly decrease any odds that you might be physically attacked today. There is one characteristic that attackers avoid as much as possible. What is this force? In a nutshell, it is simple confidence.
Confidence speaks a language of its own. Attackers see this from a potential victim and walk the other way. Why is this such an effective repellent? Individuals who physically attack look for easy targets. They don’t want someone who can overpower them. They are most often looking to overpower others. Attackers are known to be weak themselves or have a psychological problem where they feel vulnerable. Attacking someone who is weaker is both easier and gives them a sense of power.
It may seem like a difficult process. How can you exhibit confidence without bordering arrogance? Arrogance is at the opposite end of the spectrum, but carries the same consequences. It shows weakness. Experts have long stated that those who are arrogant or conceited are simply masking an incredible lack of self-esteem or self-worth.
Confidence is not arrogance. It is not something that you hold above others in that sense. Confidence tells those around you that you are completely comfortable with yourself and your surroundings. You are calm and won’t be easily intimidated.
How can you exhibit confidence? This is the most important factor in protecting yourself. A confident person walks with good posture. Many can thank their parents for encouraging “perfect posture” because it is a trait that is associated with confidence. Most people who walk with their shoulders down or their heads down are those most sought after by attackers. Keep your chin up and your back straight. If you aren’t accustomed to this you can always practice in the privacy of your home. Confidence is simply being comfortable with yourself and your surroundings.
Posture is just one faucet of exhibiting confidence. Another trait is to assert yourself. This is no excuse to be overbearing, but it does mean to stop fearing others. You should not avoid eye contact with anyone because you feel inferior. You should not feel intimidated just by walking down the street.
Assertion is a quality that many people need today. It’s okay to say “no” to others. If someone is telling you to follow them or to walk with them, and you don’t want to, don’t. If a situation starts to look dangerous in any way, leave it. If someone verbally attacks you, ignore them and leave the situation. Many people attack to get a reaction from someone else. They may be depending on your aggressive return so the situation can escalate.
Attackers today aren’t limited by gender, age, or appearance. It is important to avoid believing stereotypes when it comes to others. Just because a person does or doesn’t “look” a certain way doesn’t mean they will or will not attack.
Common sense and the knowledge of what you need to do can eliminate many of the threats in life. Confidence is not arrogance. It simply tells people you are comfortable with yourself, with your surroundings, and you are capable of handling the situation.

Modern urban living is not without its dangers, a mass of inner city areas are suffering from ever increasing levels of catastrophic crime and local police are stretched to the limit trying to keep the streets safe and sound. Unfortunately in some areas, local laws seems to aid the criminal over the law abiding citizen.
If you are worried about the rising crime rates and want to provide added protection for you and your family, one excellent option for self defense purposes is pepper spray.
Many sophisticated nations do not allow the average person to carry weapons for self defense purposes which could be deemed deadly. This means for those who are looking for a way to acquire their own self defensive weapon the majority of potential options are not options at all. However, an ever increasingly, well-recognized and accepted form of a self defense weapon is a non-lethal weapon, Pepper Spray. For a bountiful of people who proactively seek to acquire a self defense weapon, pepper spray is the number one choice and the ideal option in this authors mind.
Pepper spray dispensing units are varied in appearance. Many dispensing units are disguised as everyday items, concealed in a pocket or purse easily and very simple to operate. They are used to allocate a non-toxic quantity of a pepper based fluid that is dispensed squarely into the skin (facial area) of an adversary. The result is short-lived blindness, hysteria and mental confusion. Pepper spray is a mild and humane type of weapon for self defense which when used properly conveys time to the user to escape the actions of their attacker.
The actual legal point of view is in part discolored in connection with this form of self defense. Pepper spray as a weapon is commonly viewed at worst mild, and is not likely to find the operator facing any warranted charges being files against them. Although, it should be noted that just because one uses pepper spray for self defense, it is not strictly legal everywhere. The use of this type of weaponry may lead to the operator confronting assault charges if it is determined that the pepper spray was used for a reason not connected with self defense.
If you are worried about your loved ones safety, pepper spray may be the perfect selection for you and your family. A suitably effective, non-malignant self defense weapon that is very inexpensive, easy to use and very effective when employed properly.
Please check your local laws or my website (listed below for local laws) when considering acquiring any type of self defense weapon.

Protect Yourself From Con-Artists
The con artist’s philosophy is “the gullible were put on this earth to be gulled.” In the past, con artists were usually referred to as con men. This is no longer the case as more and more women have become involved in con games and numerous variations of con games. Before we proceed with some tips on “how not to get conned” you should always remember that a con artist can be a male or a female. In addition, many times the con artist will work with a child who will assist them in accomplishing their goal. That goal is to GET YOUR MONEY.
Here are some good rules to follow all the time - whether or not you suspect a fraud:
· Don’t believe in something-for-nothing offers. You get what you pay for.
· Be suspicious of high-pressure sales efforts.
· Take your time; think about it before you part with your money.
· Get all agreements in writing. Insist that agreements be in plain English and not legal jargon.
· Read all contracts and agreements before signing. Have a lawyer examine all major contracts.
· Beware of anyone who comes to your door asking for money for charity or for personal reasons.
HOME IMPROVEMENT FRAUD
Home repairs and improvements can be costly. Watch out if:
· Somebody offers to do an expensive job for an unusually low price
· If a firm offers to make a “free” inspection or if the person just happened to be in the neighborhood.
· The most popular home improvement frauds are roof repair and painting, driveway sealing, and termite inspection.
To avoid home improvement and repair fraud, try the following:
· Always get several estimates for every repair job, and compare prices and terms. Check to see if there is a charge for estimates.
· Ask your friends for recommendations. Alternatively, ask the firm for references - and CHECK THEM!
· Check the identification of all “inspectors.”
· Call the loan Consumer Affairs office or the Better Business Bureau to check the company’s reputation before you authorize any work.
· Be suspicious of high-pressure sales tactics.
· Pay by check - never with cash. Arrange to make the payments in installments.

TIPS FOR PERSONAL SAFETY (CONFRONTNG DANGER)

· Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, something is probably wrong.
· Be aware of your surroundings.
· Walk close to the curb, facing oncoming traffic.
· Carry bags close to your body.
· Look confident.
· Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.
· If you are being followed, head for a crowded place.
· If people start milling around you, it could a set-up for a mugging.
· Know yourself, how do you react in a crisis situation? Do you scream, cry, freeze? How would you defend yourself?
· Remember there is no right or wrong approach to dangerous situations.
· Show your anger, not your fear. a furious reaction often may stop an attack. Remember an attacker is looking for an easy victim. Yelling is always a good deterrent (a good choice is to yell FIRE) this will draw attention to those who do not want to get involved but may be concerned for their own safety and may come to help.
· If there are other people around, yell loudly enough to get their attention to what the assailant is doing.
· If you are alone and do not know anyone on the street or nearby, try calling a name out to make the attacker or assailant to believe you may be with someone. This may also help if you are alone at home.
· If someone has a weapon stay calm and wait for an opportunity. Weapons make the situation more dangerous and difficult, but there still may be something you can do about the situation.
Overview
Non-resistance to prevent physical violence, Negotiate, Stall for time, Distracting or diverting the assailant, then fleeing, Verbal assertiveness, Screaming, and using a whistle or shriek alarm to attract attention and help

Considering Less Lethal Weapons and Taser Self Defense
It seems we live in an increasingly dangerous world, a world that is serviced by a police force that is ever more ineffective and a legal system that seems to favour the criminal more and more. If you reside within a major urban area, chances are there are places within your city that are just not safe. In order to ensure your own protection in such areas, you could consider carrying some form of less lethal weapons, to be used in the event of a physical attack upon your person. An increasingly popular type of less lethal weapons is the taser self defence using one of these is often deemed far less serious in the eyes of the law than using a more conventional weapon.
If you do decide to carry one of the less lethal weapons upon you, then you need to remember why you are carrying it. If you carry a taser self defence is the only reason it should be used, inappropriate use of even less lethal weapons can see the user facing very serious legal problems, possibly including imprisonment. Although the law is often quite forgiving when it comes to using less lethal weapons for self defence, it should be noted that the use of any weapon can result in the victim of the weapon taking legal action upon the user.
By carrying a taser self defence becomes non-lethal, a taser works by emitting a high voltage electric charge which will temporarily incapacitate the target, as a less lethal weapon a taser makes a great choice for pure self defence purposes, the target will be unable to continue which their actions for a brief period of time, allowing the victim of their attack to make goof their escape.
If you carry a taser self defence becomes extremely discreet, a taser can be disguised as a cell phone, an MP3 player or some other form of harmless looking device, meaning you can carry it openly without alerting any potential attackers to the fact that you are in position of a less lethal weapon which will be used for your self defence. Some types of taser are extremely small and can easily be concealed in the palm of the hand, meaning they can be carried ready for use should you feel yourself threatened but are unable to ascertain just where and when a possible attack will be coming from
If you are concerned for your safety by carrying a taser self defence becomes an integral part of your usual pocket contents, pop it in alongside your phone and wallet, secure in the knowledge that you are carrying all of the protection you need.
Please check your local legal situation when considering acquiring any item to use for self defence purposes, less lethal weapons included. Depending upon your location the legality of taser self defence may vary.
